Hamer Factory BlogThe Hamer Factory Blog was started by Jol Dantzig in 2007, showcasing the work of the Hamer craftsmen. Often it was as much about Jol Dantzig himself as Hamer Guitars but still provided a fascinating insight into Hamer's workings, both current and historical. After his surprise departure from Hamer in early 2010 there was a hiatus of a month before a new style Factory Blog was started by Frank Untermeyer, general manager of both Hamer and Ovation at the New Hartford Factory as well as a main player in Hamer Guitars since the seventies. The new style blog had a rather different feel as Frank Untermeyer did not make himself centre-stage, rather giving all the Hamer personel more exposure. The blog ran from March 2010 until April 2012. It ended when it became clear that Hamer would stop taking orders and end production, Frank himself departing too. The final guitar, however, was not finished until mid-2014; soon after Fender (having acquired Kaman, Ovation and Hamer a few years previously) shut down the New Hartford factory. | ||
